Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
(RCIA)
RCIA is a process that culminates with an individual choosing to join the Catholic Christian faith community.
The process is open to:
-
an unbaptized person who becomes a Catholic Christian through the reception of Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation
-
a baptized person from a different faith tradition who joins the Catholic community through the reception of Eucharist and Confirmation
-
baptized Catholics who wish to complete their committment to Catholic life through the reception of Eucharist and/or Confirmation
-
baptized Catholics who have been away from the Church and want to update their faith
The process involves two blocks of eight sessions - beginning in October, reception of the Sacraments of Initiation at the Easter Vigil and continues for a few weeks after Easter to discuss the Mystery of what has occurred.
There is an inquiry period. Questions such as, "What is the Catholic Way of Life?" and,
"Is God calling me to this?" are addressed.
One is free to continue or leave at any time.
Time is dedicated to study, discussion, prayer, conversion and the development of the basic skills for living as a disciple of Christ in the Catholic Christian Community.
If you feel that Christ may be inviting you to take a closer look at the Catholic-Christian way of life, or to obtain further information about the RCIA process, please complete the form below; it will be e-mailed to Holy Cross Church. |
